Courses

East Coast Sailing School is an American Sailing Affiliate offering the following certification courses:

ASA 101, Keelboat 1:  Spend two days on beautiful Long Island Sound and learn to skipper a sloop-rigged keelboat.  All basic sailing skills will be covered.

ASA 102: Keelboat 2:  This course is for sailors interested in building their core sailing skills.  This includes becoming more proficient at sail trim and close-quarter maneuvering.  It also includes improving your crew skills and working together as a team to make your vessel move more efficiently through the water.

ASA 103, Basic Coastal Cruising:  For those planning to skipper or crew on a medium to large sailing yacht, this 2 day course will build on skills covered in ASA 101.

ASA 104, Bareboat Cruising:  Three days of practical instruction designed to prepare you to "live aboard" your own boat or a vacation charter boat.

ASA 105, Coastal Navigation:  Obtain the knowledge and skills needed to safely navigate a recreational vessel.

ASA 107, Celestial Navigation:  Learn celestial navigation theory and practices for safe navigation in offshore waters.

ASA 111, Sailing Review:  Refresh, update and expand your knowledge and practice the skills learned during previous ASA keelboat certification courses.

ASA 116, Dinghy and Outboard Endorsement:  Learn to safely and efficiently deploy, operate and manage a dinghy with an outboard motor in a variety of real-world situations.

ASA 119, Marine Weather Endorsement:  Learn to observe and forecast weather conditions using traditional maritime skills and modern technology.

ASA 120, Radar Endorsement:  Learn to properly use small-craft radar for piloting, navigation, and collision avoidance.
