Long Island Sound. A great place to sail. A great place to learn.
A tidal estuary of the Atlantic Ocean, Long Island Sound is approximately 110 miles long and, at its widest point, about 21 miles wide. It is an amazing place to sail. Its 600 miles of coastline contains hundreds of quiet anchorages, beautiful modern marinas and yacht clubs, picturesque towns and villages, and bustling urban areas. There is great food, first-class entertainment and countless places to shop.
Long Island Sound is a great place to learn. We have a challenging variety of wind and sea conditions, depths, currents and tides. There is plenty of safe, open, water as well as many areas containing hazards to navigation. On most days we share the waterways with countless other recreational vessels and commercial traffic, including ferries, tug boats, freighters and tankers. From time to time we even see cruise ships and submarines.
When you learn to sail with East Coast Sailing School on Long Island Sound, you will gain the confidence you need to live your dream – and you will have fun doing it!
